Amy Cray bounced into the Bay Area Music Scene in 1998, ready to record her debut album, Assume Nothing. Completely self-produced and recorded in her suburban one-bedroom, Assume Nothing became a quick favorite for the coffeeshop and singer-songwriter crowd, making its way onto local and college radio (including San Francisco's own KFOG) in the fall of 1999. Amy's wailing, soulful vocals and urgent, expressive piano playing style earned her attention among the musician's musicians in the Bay Area in such favorite music spots as the Bazaar Café, and the underground venue Hot Lunch.
To promote this record, Amy created Green Girl Media, which over the next five years would come to release five records and several publications including Bay Area music magazine, indieFLY. Green Girl Media also produced and promoted folkFLY, a two-season concert series which hosted the best in Bay Area folk performances at rotating venues throughout San Francisco. Alliances were formed with artists from all genres and media, and Green Girl Media truly became a staple in the artist community, drawing from enthusiastic volunteer efforts to keep its many projects in motion.
With a loyal base of supporters, Amy continues to write and perform.
